*Picasso Portraits*

In this lesson students will be taking their previously drawn portraits and developing them into a Picasso style portrait.

First, explore the work of Picasso, discuss with students the term cubism.  Watch the attached video to give students an idea of what their finished product will look like. This activity is really about students being free to explore the notion of abstract images.

Students then use their portrait (photocopy of feature placement) as a guide and again drawing on the facial features. Once students have drawn their key features onto their portrait they will need to take a photocopy for use in later lessons.

Students will then colour the portait using oil pastels, choosing diffrent colours for different sections -regarless of if this makes several different colours for the face hair etc.
