
Performance
Throughout this unit students are provided ample performance opportunities. Not all performances are formal, nor are they assessed. Performances are for students to showcase skills they have learnt and for the teacher to observe student growth.
At the end of each lesson, students should be given the opportunity to voluntarily perform a skill they have learnt, ensure students feel safe and supported during these informal performances and encourage a variety of students to showcase their work.
The unit works towards students collaboratively choreographing a whole dance composition to be performed in week 12. Students are to perform using stagecraft elements (as learnt in a previous drama unit).
Students are provided with the performance criteria in week 8 (see assessment) and encouraged to highlight dance elements from the checklist to ensure a variety of movements are used.
